2023 Competition for Public Housing Design of Jiangong Community in Shenzhen Nanshan

The design direction is based on the project of “mountains and seas connecting the city”. In Plot 05-02 and 05-04, creating a vertical garden with various public service facilities and residential units with a garden on top of the podium and integrating the planting concept in the neighbourhood, it creates the connection of the nature and the city and link up the Tongle Neighbourhood Park, Jiangong Culture Park and Hele Amusement Park. The overall building façade is modern simplicity and ecological nature. Jiagong culture colour scheme will be part of the façade colours, it creates a community characteristic and reinforces the community identity.

The neighbourhood should not be only a temporary place for the residents, but an inclusive space for everyone. There are green spaces located on different floors in the residential buildings, and community workers can promote the neighbourhood cultures and reinforce the neighbourhood atmosphere through the community planting activities. It helps with strengthening the sustainability of the green space in the neighbourhood and increasing the residents’ inclusiveness to all age groups. At the end, all the population groups can be truly connected and live with communication, integration and heart-to-heart.
